Since 1995, Habitat for Humanity Huronia has been dedicated to providing families in the
South Simcoe area with the opportunity for homeownership. As an independent affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity Canada, we manage our own homeownership process, homebuilding
operations, and Habitat ReStores, all focused on supporting local families. Our mission is
simple: to create a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
Our model relies on partnerships and volunteer hours to help families build their homes.
Rather than giving away homes, we offer a hand-up, not a handout. Families work
alongside volunteers and community partners to build their own homes, empowering them
to take control of their future.
Currently, Sarah, Mike, and their children are preparing to move into our latest home in
Stayner later this year, a direct result of our mission in action. Many families in our
community are struggling with housing instability and unable to find decent, affordable
housing. The demand for affordable homes has never been greater, and Habitat Huronia is
committed to breaking this cycle by helping families build strength, stability, and
independence.
We also operate the Habitat ReStores, which sell new and gently used building materials,
furniture, home improvement items, décor, and even kitchens through our Kitchens to
Homes program. The revenue from these stores supports the construction of homes for
local families in need of affordable housing. ReStores sell items tax-free, and donations are
eligible for tax receipts, further benefiting the community.
For every $1 donated, Habitat Huronia creates $4 in community benefit, amplifying the
impact of your support. Your generosity helps us build more homes, expand our affordable
homeownership program, and invest in sustainable homes that remain affordable for years
to come.
Together, with your support, we can change lives and build a better future for local families,
one home at a time.
