
Jim McIntosh
Jim is a Partner at Barriston LLP, a full service law firm with offices in Barrie, Collingwood, Bracebridge and Huntsville. Jim has broad practice experience gained since being called to the bar in 1988. His practice is now focused on municipal law acting primarily for municipalities, as well as providing real estate support to major electrical utility suppliers throughout the Province of Ontario. Before embarking on his career in law, Jim worked in diverse areas including: the warehousing and trucking industry, door-to-door and retail sales and court reporting.
In July 1999, Jim joined the firm of Burgar Rowe LLP in Barrie and moved here with his wife Darla and young daughter Erin. Shortly after arriving, he was invited to join the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia as a member which gave him the opportunity to become involved in community volunteer work. He has served as a director of the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia on many occasions and is a past president. Jim volunteered with the Barrie Parenting Fair and served on the Kempenfest board for a number of years. He joined the board for Hospice Simcoe in 2003, became board chair in 2005 and assumed the role of capital campaign chair in 2007 to assist in raising the funds for construction of the Hospice Simcoe residential hospice facility on Penetanguishene Road which opened in December 2009. Jim was presented with the Sam Delmar Memorial Award as Lawyer of the Year in 2009 and the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Community Volunteerism by the Province of Ontario in 2013. Jim currently sits on the Finance Committee and the Communications Committee.
