**Update: Applications are now closed**
Exciting news from Barrie Community Foundation – you heard it here first!
We are launching The Annual Vital Barrie Grants with $20,000! These grants are to support all the great work done by many types of charities in our region – health and human services, arts and culture, environment and education, animal support and welfare, safe-shelter and food security, etc. We will be inviting applications from registered charities, who serve the residents of Simcoe County, to apply for a Vital Barrie Grant of up to $5,000. The Vital Barrie Grants support a Barrie where we can all live, work, and thrive.
Born out of the incredible support you, my readers and friends, offered when we put out the call for financial support for the Community Crisis Fund. If you recall, through this newsletter and lots of conversations, Barrie Community Foundation was able to push out Community Crisis Grants early in the pandemic to dozens of local charities. We saw the need and hoped we could help. You all answered my call and it was over $35,000 in support in 2020. We have transitioned the Crisis Grants to Vital Barrie Grants to support the broader charitable sector in our region.
How Do I Apply?
To get an application, send an email to executivedirector@barriecommunityfoundation.org with Vital Barrie Grant in the subject line, and you MUST include your Charitable Registration Number in the email. Once we receive the email and confirm your Charitable Status, we will send you the brief application. This is the only way to get an application.
Applications are open until October 31, 2024.
How Do I Support This?
It is our intention to offer this grant program once a year with at least $20,000. We have been quietly fund raising for these grants for a little while now, and we ask for your help. Every dollar is important to the charities in this community. Thank you for putting your trust in Barrie Community Foundation to be the conduit for granting. Please consider supporting these grants for long-term investment in the vitality our community.
If you have any questions donating please reach out to Sarah Ingram, our Executive Director executivedirector@barriecommunityfoundation.org
