Bill Porter had great interest in the world around him and a great love for Barrie and especially Kempenfelt Bay. Bill was a strong believer in public libraries, and especially in the way Barrie Public Library kept on enriching our community. Bill was a lifelong library supporter and a very dedicated member of the Library Board of Trustees. He enthusiastically supported the Library’s desire to stage the Dragon Boat Festival as it brought his two great interests together…. the Library and his love for the wind and waves. After his death, his family looked for a special way to honour his memory. Every year the interest from this endowment comes to Barrie Public Library to be used to enrich Library Services.
